This jewellery has been inspired by nature, especially the myriad forms of leaves

First of all there was the Acer "Sango-Kaku", aka Coral bark maple, in my garden which donated a leaf and seed.

Then the leaf was carefully painted with several layers of recycled silver clay paste over three days and then sintered to leave fine silver with a faithful reproduction of the leaf's shape and texture.  A mould was taken of the seed to enable it also to be made in fine silver.

The chain is a classic chainmaille weave called Jens Pind Linkage; each ring was individually made by me before being added one at a time into the weave and finished with a hand-forged leaf clasp.

The choker is 39cm long and the leaf measures 4cm at its longest point and has been hallmarked with the standard UK marks for sterling silver and my maker's mark by the London Assay Office.

For UK addresses the choker will be sent by Royal Mail's Special Delivery which is a next day delivery service and includes insurance.  An equivalent service will be used for US destinations, but delivery will take approx. 5 days.

I picked a Mallow (Malva sylvestris) leaf from a shrub in my garden that a bird kindly planted for me, then I cautiously painted it with up to ten thin coats of PMC paste, each one being allowed to dry before the next is applied. This process takes from 2 to 4 days, depending on the number of layers.

The leaf is then fired and the real leaf burns off, resulting in an accurate copy made of 99.9% silver, a hole is drilled at one end and a fine silver handmade jumpring added to provide a hanging point.

The size of the leaf is approx. 4cm long by 4.5cm wide.

Every leaf is unique since each one is created from a different real leaf.

Because I hand-pierce the bats and moon, this is a unique design which cannot be repeated exactly.
